Yes, feel free to voice your opinions too! I don't really like Kanani that much if you haven't noticed. Have you ever noticed that I only like the GOTYs that come out in the even-numbered years (Jess, Mia, Lanie)?

I totally agree w/you. And I did see in one of her pics that there is a dog. (probably her pet.) Is it possible to have an 'unusual' pet? Chrissa's llama was sooo cute, so why can't we have another unusual pet?!

Well, here is the thing about AG copying.
Kailey was a LONG time ago now, So like most kids don't have her or a doll like her. So it's simple to come up with her personality, but some of her iteams are better! Like the shaved ice thing. I love it already. I want to get Kanani's full collection. Back to the shaved ice thing. It's pink. Most girls like pink. It's plastic {So far I think it is}. It will be able to stay up for loads of fun! For her PJs I love them! They are the cutest thing EVER!
I think Kanani is cute, but her stuff is very similar to Kailey. I didn't expect her meet outfit would look like that. I think the snow cone set is adorable though! :)
wow, thanks for sharing the pictures of Kanani. I have to disagree about the foot stool. I think the AG's look better sitting in a chair with a foot stool because their feet stick out anyway. Not a big thing. The chair style is pretty retro something though. Maybe pink and blue are "in" for 2011.
PS: I also have an opinion about Kanani's coloring. If she's supposed to be native Hawaiian (and maybe she's not), her hair and skin should be darker. What do you think?
I totally understand your opinions, but mine are quite the opposite! I LOVE Kanani because she has some Jess-like stuff. I absolutely LOVE Jess, but never got her. I love Kanani's hair and eye color, and hope to get her.

Oh, This is Emma (Mom's profile girl!) again, and I wonder if the girl in the kayak picture who is next to Kanani is Rachel! I would LOVE it if they came out with a Rachel doll, I might get her! Love you blog, btw. I like the rest of the stuff, though. I think I will REALLY like Kanani, except for her meet dress. :)

I LOVE her. I completely disagree. She seems like Kailey, maybe, but she's pretty. And the dolls legs stretch out so you CAN use it. And her meet outfit is SO pretty. Glad to have something below the knees for once. :P

I have to say, I kind of disagree with most of you. Some people say oh she's Kailey and Jess all over again, but no she isn't. No one has even read her books yet. I mean come on, if you're in Hawaii wouldn't a lot of people surf like Kaiey? It's even in her book that she and her friend are taking surfing lessons. I have to say (again) That I loove her meet outfit! It really doesn't matter to me what everyone thinks about her.. I ♥ Kanani!

I'm with Olivia they are just trying to introduce The Old Girl of the years to A new generation of girls. Plus Plastic is very durable I do Like Kanani it is interesting that AG Is going back to the tropical setting.

Well, Kanani has gorgeous hair! But thats really all I like, have you noticed-AG is making a lot of dolls now with long, curly hair? I think -from the pictures- that she has hazel eyes, I wish they would have one with brown eyes, which they haven't since Jess 2006. I guess she's nice for younger girls. But for us who live and breathe on researching AG, it's disappointing that she's so similar to past dolls. I also wish they would have one totally different, that would focus on the technology we have today! I mean 2010 was about Eco-friendliness. But I think 2011 will be about all new things. American Girl should step up and make something totally creative, make some cooler outfits and maybe make some names we can all pronounce.

You guys complain that she's so much like Kailey? Well, for starters, Kailey liked to BOOGIE BOARD. And it looks like Kanani here has a surfboard... And a paddle. Which really means Kanani is a paddle-boarder. Paddle-boarding is when you stand up on the board and use the paddle to maneuver around. (she must be good, because paddle-boarding's pretty hard! : /) Which is pretty unique, actually! :D And yeah, Jess's story was set up in a tropical country, but in the MIDDLE of a tropical country. If i remember correctly, (correct me if I'm wrong) Jess wasn't near a beach or anything. If you ask me, Kanani is pretty different compared to the rest of the GOTYs. [:

I am very disappointed with this doll. My two girls have 8 dolls..Nellie, Addie, Marisol, a lookalike, Chrissa, Mia and a few others. I was actually hoping the doll was a brown skinned Caribbean island doll which was probably hoping too much. People who are not black probably can't understand how frustrating it is to have the lack of diversity in the dolls. I love AG dolls but I am beginning to feel they all look alike. I think this doll is a dead ringer for Marisol and it certainly does not look Hawaaian. Oh Well!
Emma, the doll next to her in the kayak picture is another Kanani doll. They just show it with 2 dolls so that you can see how the 2 outfits look on. They don't make a Rachel doll or Celina doll.
